  • Seeway Trust seeks to rescue many ‘slave children’ in Ghana, giving them a hope and a future

In this report George Bainsborough and Rev Joel Coxton Thompson share their vision to rescue slave children from child labour on Lake Volta starting with 30 kids who will be housed in a new home at the Seeway Academy in Namanwora, Ghana.

Slave Children Rescue project

Watch the video which starts with George Bainborough interviewing Rev Joel Coxton Thompson who is a counselling psychologist in Ghana. Hear about the difficult plight these children face with little food and no education. Sadly some of them are sold by their parents who live in dire poverty. They are forced to work on the fishing boats by their masters. Even so Seeway Ghana has found a way to negotiate for their freedom in a peaceful way. Once rescued the children are brought to live at a newly built home at the Seeway Academy where they are part of a family and have access to education.
