George Bainborough provides an update of our Seeway Academy in Namanwora, Ghana. See how the school is progressing and how we are building a new home to house rescued ‘slave children’ who are being used as child labour on Lake Volta. The new home is alongside the Academy and will initially provide accommodation and care for 30 children which we aim to double in 2024. These rescued children will attend the Academy where we hope to provide them with their first experience of a learning environment. You will also hear from Carol Anderson who is a former teacher who has a heart for education and a vision for empowering the children with IT skills.
George Bainborough talks to Rev Joel Coxton Thompson about their joint vision to rescue slave children from child labour on Lake Volta. Hear about the difficult plight these children face with little food and no education. Sadly some of them are sold by their parents who live in dire poverty. They are forced to work on the fishing boats by their masters. Even so Seeway Ghana has found a way to negotiate for their freedom in a peaceful way. Once rescued the children are brought to live at a newly built home at the Seeway Academy where they are part of a family and have access to education.
